Contemporary period

In the winter of 1945 the Red Army ransacked the whole object and set fire to it. The reconstruction of the monastery lasted a long time and with many interruptions. Lack of funds for restoration of the complex caused deterioration of the once stately property. No sooner than 1998 it was transferred to the Diocese of Gliwice. Since then, ongoing renovations have been taking place.

The Cistercian Abbey, now owned by the Diocese of Gliwice, for several years has been undergoing rebuilding and reconstruction of its former glory. With the funding acquired from various EU operational programmes, an increasing part of the monastery can be made available to the public.
