Welcome in Rudy

Rudy of the Cistercians and of the Duke is a extraordinary place. A place not only for rest, walks and popular cycling routes. Among the beautiful abundance of the green of the Park and surrounding forests, one can discover many treasures of architecture, paining or sculpture .

Not only is it contact with nature, relaxation for your eyes and peace of mind, but also an opportunity to “touch” history. You will meet many objects of educational value providing history and biology lessons – fascinating and memorable lessons encouraging further reflection. It is a mine for nature-lovers and ecologists who value contact with the nature and its contemplation. The possibility of contacting art and culture of high standards is of further importance for guests to the region whether it is architecture, sculpture or music – concerts and exhibitions are organised here.

Rudy is a pilgrimage centre
due to the presence of the miracle- famous picture of the Humble Mother of God of Rudy, which displays features of a byzantine icon painted on a wooden plank with distemper. The sanctuary houses also Relics of the Holy Cross and Relics of St. Valentine. A stay in Rudy enables communing with beauty. Everyone can find something for oneself. You are most welcome to visit the following places: Sanctuary of the Humble Mother of God (Minor Basilica), the Old Abbey – the later seat of the Prince.

Beautiful palace park
with its picturesque ponds:

  • Park Pond ( to the north of the palace), bordering on the dike crossed by the Klodwig Alley where you should devote some attention to the neo-gothic brick chapel.
  • Swiss Pond with the Island of Fragrance to the east of the complex – though it is overgrown now, in the springtime one can admire the smell of azaleas.
  • Peicker’s Pond (to the south-east of the palace). The viewing axis of Peicker’s Pond is closed by the Gardener’s Cottage.

To the east of the presbytery of the church one can admire a monument of nature - the Cistercian Oak. To the west of the complex one can find another monumental tree – a linden tree with the figure of St. John of Nepomuk underneath. In the lower section of the river there is a scenic place of particular interest exposing the acceleration and the agitation of the water current on the threshold. Another worth seeing spot is a two-level crossing of watercourses. Furthermore, visitors are recommended to see the monumental Presbytery, the Marian Column, Roger's Infirmary, the Post Office Building. Another interesting featureto notice is the sculpture of St. John of Nepomuk in the St. John’s Street - by Johann Melchior Österreich dated 1734, which is confirmed by the chronostych on its pedestal.

Further attraction is a museum of over one hundred years old narrow-gauge railway. One can take a ride along the tourist routes to Stanica, Paprocie and Stodoły. The sensitive poets and romantics will also find something for themselves: the " Princess’s Heart of Stone", "the Island of Fragrance”, the "Lover's Bench", the "Maids Graves” wrapped-up in legends, the forest ranges "Orłów"and "Buk". The mysterious Masonic meeting place near Buk, next to the" Black Puddle ", inspires imagination just as many other still un-rediscovered places. Rudy is an unusual, interesting, full of magic spot, the treasure still waiting to be rediscovered.
